How we work
Les Éditions LAEGIS operates on a traditional publishing model: if your manuscript is accepted, you pay nothing. Everything is handled by the publishing house.
A publishing contract
The author signs a three-year contract, automatically renewable, with Les Éditions LAEGIS. No financial contribution is required from the author for the preparation, production or distribution of the book.
Production and formats
The publishing house handles layout, design and production of books in both print and digital formats. The author is consulted at every stage.
Communication
Les Éditions LAEGIS proposes a communication campaign which the author validates together with the publishing house.
Distribution
In France, distribution begins through the Amazon network. If the book finds its audience, it expands to the FNAC and Cultura networks as well as independent bookshops.
Internationally, a similar model is deployed according to each country's distributors.
Les Éditions LAEGIS aims to distribute print and digital books in every country in the world, even though the publishing house is based in France.
Author copies
The author may order as many copies as desired at the manufacturing cost, with no additional royalty. These copies are intended for book promotion: presentations in stores, bookshops, symposiums, conferences or any other event. Delivery is made to the author within one to two weeks of the request.
Royalties
Royalties are calculated on the pre-tax selling price and increase with the number of copies sold:
- 12% up to 2,000 copies sold
- 13% from 2,000 to 5,000 copies
- 14% from 5,000 to 10,000 copies
- 15% beyond 10,000 copies
In short: the author writes, the publishing house does the rest.
